About Face
When you care enough to say the very best, say it with Twitter.  A DM from Denny Rehberg this morning was better than an FTD bouquet.
I’m here to say that this Congressman totally gets it.  On Wednesday, I wrote a heartfelt, engaging letter to Montana Congressman, Denny Rehberg asking him to follow more Montanans and fewer political-types.  My friends at New West liked the spirit of it so much, they gave me a byline Thursday, and it inspired Twitter friends like @ManifestPhil to write another great piece on his blog.  Some thought I was being hard on him, but many around the country applauded my observations in general on the topic.  I had great conversations with @geoffliving about Government 2.0 and the transparency we can have and should expect from these new tools.
I was surprised and absolutely giddy to find a DM from @DennyRehberg in my TweetDeck at 5:44 this morning.  It read:
»»”Thanks for all the advice. I know I have a lot to learn. Big day on the hill yesterday with the budget, but headed home now.” @Denny Rehberg
I knew he had had a big day battling the budget, because I read his press releseases on his informative website.  Of course I Tweeted back a thank you and a request for him to follow me so that I can DM him and I got another Tweet.
»»”Yup, will do. Sitting on the plane home now, but will have some time to add and subtract names this weekend. After hugging fam.”  @Denny Rehberg
As you know from reading my blog, I’m proud to be a Montanan.  Always have. We’re a smart, pioneering, hearty (it sknowed 6 inches at my house last night) bunch.  But today, what I’m most proud of is that our representatives really do represent us, they reflect the kind of people we are — hard working, family-focused, thrifty, lifestyle-possessed, neighborly and not to mention pretty tweet-savvy. ;-)
I hope youre #followfriday is as fulfilling as mine!
